Streamlining Manufacturing
A rapid engineering intervention that saved weeks of internal resource and hit run-rate production in record time.
A manufacturing challenge needing a fast solution
Brown and Holmes (Tamworth) had been awarded a new order with an immediate requirement for ongoing production of two variants of a machined component. With capable engineers on site but engaged with other projects, they needed a short-term, project-based intervention to develop a robust, repeatable manufacturing process, and meet tight timelines.

How FJH Group stepped in
One of our qualified mechanical engineers went on-site at Brown and Holmes to consult and collaborate with their team. We began with CAM programming and virtual simulation to design a streamlined manufacturing process, optimising toolpaths and cutting parameters before a single chip was made. We then validated the procedure on the customer's existing DMG Mori CNC machining centre, refining and optimising the programme and tooling selection, before handing over the completed process to their staff.

Weeks of engineering time saved, run-rate production achieved on schedule
Our intervention saved Brown and Holmes weeks of internal engineering time. Their team took over a fully proven, optimised manufacturing process, freeing them to focus immediately on meeting the production quota. We continued to provide aftersales support through ramp-up to full-rate production, refining the process further as volumes increased.

They have supported our business on multiple levels including programming, manufacturing methodology, and process prove out. Most recently expediting the implementation of a re-engineered manufacturing process, facilitating the ramp up to run-rate production in a matter of weeks.
